Here are the ingredients you will need to prepare a delicious Bourbon Sweet Potato Casserole 

Ingredients 

  • Sweet potatoes – approximately 6 pounds
  • Dark brown sugar – 3/4th cup 
  • Flour – 3/4th cup
  • Salt – 2 teaspoons 
  • Clarified butter – 12 tablespoons
  • Bourbon – 1/4th cup
  • Orange zest finely grated – 2 teaspoons 
  • Nutmeg and cinnamon – both 3/4th teaspoon 
  • Whole milk – 1/4th cup

While the list of ingredients may seem lengthy, the recipe for this casserole is deceptively simple! 

This is how you can whip it up easily -

  • Roast the sweet potatoes for about 45-60 minutes in the oven at around 375? F.
  • Next, blend sugar, flour, and salt with a little butter added to it. After about 5 minutes, cover this mixture and place it in the refrigerator.
  • After the sweet potatoes are roasted, they have to be cooled for approximately 20 minutes. In the meantime, coat the baking dish with butter. 
  • Take the rest of the ingredients like orange zest, butter, bourbon, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, mix them, and cook for about 5 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally until the butter melts. Once it starts to bubble, set it aside.
  • After the sweet potatoes have cooled down, the skins should be carefully removed so that chunks do not come off. Mash the potatoes and add the bourbon mixture and milk. 
  • The mixture will have to be poured into the baking dish and baked for approximately 20 minutes. Serve it after letting it sit for about 10 minutes.
